The Highlands: Street Art

While I was home on my little “travel nursing” break, I thunk up the idea to relearn my city. I thunk of relearning it in the way of a tourist.

Anytime I travel somewhere new, I research that city’s most visited and must-see attractions. In addition, I search for the best rated hole-in-the-wall donut spots, thrift stores, and street art or murals.

In my narrow mind, the only thing Louisville, KY has to offer is my family, friends and some select Derby events. But, I know there has to be more…just like the gems I find elsewhere.

I wanted to start with my absolute-hands-down-favorite neighborhood in Louisville…the Highlands. Focus: Murals.

There’s about a 3ish mile stretch of creative/hipster goodness. There’s eclectic, local restaurants, boutique shops, and bars. I decided to drive along its primary street, Bardstown Road, and photograph the most interesting (IMO) ones.
