Please head over to YouTube and watch LipsticknCurls (Jade Kendle), “My BIGGEST SECRET to Success Online.” In our world of obtrusive social media and need to get “likes,” Jade explores her journey and how she’s become the media personality and beauty/fashion influencer that she is today.
Y’all! A YouTube video shouted me.
It’s somewhat of a long video if you are pressed for time, but the message is one I think is especially good for those who aren’t currently living and walking their purpose (read: me), but who don’t yet have the courage to walk away from their current situation (read: me again) and NEEDS the encouragement. Her secret?
Faith and God.
Jade was in a Master’s program before she took the step to do YouTube full-time. At the time, that was her “light.” At that time, that was her biggest blessing. She described it as, “being frustrated that you can see where you’re supposed to be, but you have to go through the process and finish where He has you now.”
I feel like people with success stories tell us this all the time–that it was faith and God. They’ll say, “it was nothing but God.” And in my mind I’ll start to question my relationship with God because I feel like I’ve been doing what I’m supposed to do all along, but not reaping any of benefits from it. My mind then spirals down into a wondering of whether or not my relationship to him is strong enough, whether or not I’m being completely truthful and honest with myself, and therefore God, about the desires of my heart. I then transpire deeper into whether or not I’ve actually been a so-called obedient servant and maybe that’s why I haven’t experienced the success I think I should have.
Regardless of the matter, Jade speaks a language in way that makes the concept seem more attainable and simplifies my chaotic thinking. Everything is a process; do everything you can do at the time and place you’re at. She said, “If you have faith, God is going to help you with the rest. You have to make room for him to do that for you instead of relying on yourself to figure everything out.”
You can’t do this by yourself.
And then there was this part (*screaming real loud for the people in the back*): “Don’t be obsessed with the money, but be obsessed with your passion, purpose, and living/breathing creatively…even if it doesn’t look like something that’s lucrative (i.e pays the bills), you never know how God is gonna work things out in your life.”
This video came to me in perfect timing.
Sometimes you just need a different messenger to deliver the message.
