LA has stunted my ability to dress creatively. Before I got here, I was on a roll. I had so many ideas of outfits I could put together solely from the thrift store and my Poshmark shop was doing really well. So, I blame LA for my downfall.
This past weekend, though, I caught a glimpse of me, being me. FINALLY. It happened on a random stroll down Melrose Avenue. Melrose, to those who don’t know, has an eclectic stretch of street art, vintage shops, and restaurants. There, you’ll find yourself surrounded by tourists and the cool, hipster-ish locals. There was also this random gem, this neon yellow painted sliver of a wall, just waiting for me to stand in front of and pose awkwardly. So, I did.
My friend visited this past weekend and this particular day was gonna be our art museum and shopping day. It was pretty gloomy and cold out so my motivation to be “cute” in LA wasn’t top priority.
I literally only brought with me about 20 items of clothing to this travel assignment. Being able to mix and match is a major key. That day’s vibe was about wearing two items I hadn’t worn together…

I then paired that with my only other clean pair of blue denim (choices made simple), Vans, and my trusty Fossil black leather backpack ($5).
The eyeglasses are solely an accessory (and useless).
The hair is pulled up in twists to protect from rain and inevitable frizz. Practical and functional.
Voila…magic. Pure fire.
