Columbus, OH!
My best friend relocated to Columbus for work at the end of last year and I finally got to visit her new home. The weather wasn’t great, but we made the most of the trip for the 2-days I was there. Here are the highlights:
North Market–Food hall in downtown Columbus full of independent and locally sourced goods. Pictured is some BOMB ramen from Satori Ramen.
Other World–Newer museum in Columbus that immerses the viewers into the experience. This museum is more interactive, complicated, and weird at times. You should bring with you an open-mind and child-like playfulness to truly enjoy it.
Katalina’s–A must-do brunch restaurant in a cute neighborhood! It is small, seating is first-come first-serve, but the food packs tons of pleasurable flavors. Yelp and the locals recommend getting the Pancake-Balls (they are know for these), but we didn’t care for them too much. Personal opinion, it was like biting into a warm ball of wet dough! What I can 100% recommend: Mazatlan Slow-Roasted Pork & Egg Sandwich and Award-Winning Breakfast Tacos!
Columbus Museum of Art–Free on Sundays for non-members! It’s not a proper trip without checking out the local art museum especially if the weather is less than desirable (it was at 15 degrees). They had tons of unique artworks and exhibits, and a cute cafe/restaurant conveniently situated on their main floor.
The Book Loft of German Village–If you are a book lover, the Book Loft will be your dream come true. This particular bookstore is to be one of the largest independent bookstores in the country.
Stauf’s Coffee Roasters–– Okay, absolutely go here. Do not order the hot chocolate…or do and be disappointed! At this point in the day we had already had our coffee so we just needed a warm pick-me-up. The hot chocolate wasn’t ‘it’ but the shop itself was quaint and cozy and the baristas were very friendly. The price is great also!
Easton Gateway Mall– No pictures above, but this was an outdoor mall with premier retailers, restaurants, and movie theater. Located just 20 minutes outside of the city!
